What P060D means
The accelerator pedal has two sensor tracks.
How the engine computer detects it
With P060D the module's own cross-check of the pedal value fails: two processors (GM: main and 'motor' processor) calculate pedal position independently and must agree, and an active test briefly pulls one track to ground – the other must not follow, otherwise the tracks are shorted together. Thresholds: GM 2005 difference over 0.142 V or track 2 over 2.05 V during the test; GM 2006 over 5 %; Ford diesel compares track 1 against twice track 2 (half slope), fault above 547 or 1055 mV for 5 s. GM sets it in the first trip, Ford since 2020 with the check engine and wrench lamps (2012 only the wrench lamp). Unlike P2138, where the two pedal tracks disagree outside the module, P060D is the internal plausibility check.

Symptoms
- Reduced power, engine barely responds to the pedal
- Check engine light or wrench lamp
- Cruise control disabled
- Raised idle or limp mode
Common causes
- Short between the two pedal sensor signal lines or moisture in the pedal connector Most likely
- Faulty pedal sensor (tracks drifting) Possible
- Faulty module software (update available) Possible
- Internal module fault (converter, processor) Less likely
How to diagnose P060D
- Read every stored code with an OBD-II scanner. If misfire or fuel trim codes are there too, fix those first: they often cause this one.
- Inspect the parts involved: engine control module, accelerator pedal position sensor, sensor wiring.
- Work through the causes above from most to least likely, cheapest checks first.
- Clear the code and drive a full drive cycle to confirm the repair held.

Questions drivers ask
Can I drive with code P060D?
Drive gently and only as far as you need to. The engine computer may limit power to protect the engine, so avoid highways and heavy traffic until it's fixed. If the check engine light starts flashing, pull over.
Will my car pass an emissions inspection with P060D?
Probably not in states that test vehicles with an OBD-II scan: an emissions-related code that keeps the check engine light on is usually an automatic fail. Rules differ by state and county, so check yours.
