What P010B means
Sensor B is a second mass air flow sensor in a second intake path, found on engines with two air filter boxes – for example the Nissan VR30DDTT twin-turbo V6 (where sensor B belongs to bank 2) or GM's 3.0 liter twin-turbo V6.
How the engine computer detects it
P010B is the plausibility fault of sensor B: the signal is electrically valid but does not fit. GM checks it like sensor A against a model built from the other sensors (manifold pressure, boost, throttle, sensor A) and fails it above 20 g/s deviation, with two trips. For the VR30DDTT Nissan names a loose or leaking left-hand intake pipe as the main cause and warns against touching or dismantling the sensor. Other causes match P0101: a soiled element, a clogged filter on that side or a boost leak.

Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Lack of power, hesitation
- Rough idle
- Bank 2 mixture codes (P0174) possible
Common causes
- Intake pipe on the sensor B side leaking or not seated Most likely
- Sensor B element contaminated (oil, dust) Most likely
- Air filter on that side clogged or wrongly fitted Possible
- Boost leak on that bank, or sensor/connector problem Possible
How to diagnose P010B
- Read every stored code with an OBD-II scanner. If misfire or fuel trim codes are there too, fix those first: they often cause this one.
- Inspect the parts involved: mass air flow sensor b, intake duct, air filter.
- Work through the causes above from most to least likely, cheapest checks first.
- Clear the code and drive a full drive cycle to confirm the repair held.

Questions drivers ask
Can I drive with code P010B?
Drive gently and only as far as you need to. The engine computer may limit power to protect the engine, so avoid highways and heavy traffic until it's fixed. If the check engine light starts flashing, pull over.
Will my car pass an emissions inspection with P010B?
Probably not in states that test vehicles with an OBD-II scan: an emissions-related code that keeps the check engine light on is usually an automatic fail. Rules differ by state and county, so check yours.
Will P010B clear by itself?
The light can go off after several drive cycles without the fault, but the code returns if the cause is still there. After a repair, the readiness monitors need a full drive cycle before an inspection.
Can I fix P010B myself?
Often yes, with an OBD-II scanner and basic tools. Difficulty: easy. Start with the cheapest checks before replacing expensive parts.
