What P07B5 means
P07B5 means something different at each manufacturer.
How the engine computer detects it
At GM it covers the P button of the shift-by-wire selector: sensor A reads in the band between its 'released' and 'pressed' zones (53.2–73.7 % of 5 V, ICCM 45–58 %), after two trips. On the Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid it is the park pawl position sensor 1 in the transmission, fixed by software together with park actuator codes. On the 2017–18 Genesis G80/G90 it reads 'park position sensor circuit low' and the park position switch is replaced. In all cases the module cannot reliably determine the park request or position.

Symptoms
- Check engine light, 'service transmission' or 'unable to shift' message
- Park cannot be selected by button, or the car will not shift out of P
- P button illumination off
Common causes
- P button sensor faulty or worn Most likely
- Knob not seated, button sticking Possible
- Contact resistance in the connector Possible
- Module software Less likely
How to diagnose P07B5
- Read every stored code with an OBD-II scanner. If misfire or fuel trim codes are there too, fix those first: they often cause this one.
- Inspect the parts involved: park position sensor, electronic range selector, sensor wiring, transmission control module.
- Work through the causes above from most to least likely, cheapest checks first.
- Clear the code and drive a full drive cycle to confirm the repair held.

Questions drivers ask
Can I drive with code P07B5?
If the car shifts normally, drive gently to a shop. If it's stuck in one gear, slips, shifts harshly or won't move out of Park, don't drive it: have it towed.
Will P07B5 clear by itself?
The light can go off after several drive cycles without the fault, but the code returns if the cause is still there. After a repair, the readiness monitors need a full drive cycle before an inspection.
