What P02EE means
P02EE reports an electrically implausible response of the cylinder 1 injector – not an open or short circuit (those are P0201, P0261, P0262), but a current or voltage pattern outside the expected range.
How the engine computer detects it
GM's 8-cylinder diesel checks the time the current takes to fall from hold to zero (outside 20–50 µs in 10 of 20 samples, two trips); GM's gasoline direct injection evaluates the voltage feedback of the opening and closing; Ford's diesels flag the injector's voltage or charge regulator at its limit (90 s), Ford's gasoline direct injection its controlled-valve-operation adaptation at its limit. The injector may be shut off, causing misfire.

Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Rough running, misfire on cylinder 1
- Loss of power, smoke (diesel)
Common causes
- Injector electrically aged (piezo capacitance, coil resistance) Most likely
- Contact resistance in the injector 1 connector or wiring Possible
- Injector mechanically sticking (valve lift) Possible
- Injector driver stage in the engine module Less likely
How to diagnose P02EE
- Read every stored code with an OBD-II scanner. If misfire or fuel trim codes are there too, fix those first: they often cause this one.
- Inspect the parts involved: fuel injector cylinder 1, injector wiring, engine control module.
- Work through the causes above from most to least likely, cheapest checks first.
- Clear the code and drive a full drive cycle to confirm the repair held.

Questions drivers ask
Can I drive with code P02EE?
Drive gently and only as far as you need to. The engine computer may limit power to protect the engine, so avoid highways and heavy traffic until it's fixed. If the check engine light starts flashing, pull over.
Will my car pass an emissions inspection with P02EE?
Probably not in states that test vehicles with an OBD-II scan: an emissions-related code that keeps the check engine light on is usually an automatic fail. Rules differ by state and county, so check yours.
Will P02EE clear by itself?
The light can go off after several drive cycles without the fault, but the code returns if the cause is still there. After a repair, the readiness monitors need a full drive cycle before an inspection.
